Review: Persona 4 Arena (Xbox 360)

Not having played Persona 3, but loving Persona 4, I really did not know what to make of the storyline proposed for the fighting game Persona 4 Arena. I am completely in favour of development houses trying something new, especially with an established franchise. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. Thankfully Persona 4 Arena works with flying colors.

Capcom shows off more Sengoku Basara 4

Here are a bunch of new screenshots for Capcom's Sengoku Basara 4.

Some early screens from Natural Doctrine

One of the upcoming games I am most excited for is Natural Doctrine by Kadokawa Games. It will be releasing in Japan (no outside territories listed yet, but I am crossing my fingers) on February 22nd, 2014.

Looking forward to some more Persona 4?

Okay... that title could be seen as misleading - it's Persona 4 Arena, with an update for the Arcade first, but later the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Plenty of screens from Dragon Quest Monsters 2

It has been a while since Square Enix put any new information or screenshots out there for Dragon Quest Monsters 2. This title is set to release in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS sometime next year.

Who wants to see more Toon Link?

Toon Link is getting a lot of love lately, first with the Windwaker HD remake for the Wii U, and now he is showing up in some screenshots of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game.

Soul Sacrifce Delta is coming

We were pretty big fans of Soul Sacrifice, but I admit when I saw the additional word 'Delta' added to the title, we were in for an updated version of the game, like Raganok Odyssey added Ace to its proper title and is planning to update for the Vita.

Two dozen more screens of Saint Seiya

Namco Bandai and Dimps have been showing off a lot of screens from Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers. Given how easy all of the bright, saturated colours look, I cannot say I blame them. Hopefully the combat holds up.

Another Hyperdimension remake for Vita

Fans of JRPG titles who own a PlayStation Vita continue to be in luck. After the announcement that Hyperdimension Neptunia would be seeing an updated released called Re;Birth 1, it has now been announced that another remake is coming sooner than later.

Over a dozen new screens from Dark Souls II

Dark Souls and its predecessor Demon's Souls were dark, grim affairs that led to many, many player deaths. Dark Souls II promises to offer up more of the same, and the visuals continue to impress with every new batch of screenshots that get released.

Deep Down will be free to play

We recently talked about Deep Down in a prior post, having gleaned some more information about the title itself.

First look at Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

If you are a fan of flashy, colourful fighters, then this one might be for you (and me).

A bunch of new screens from Dragon Ball Z

Here are a whole lot of new screenshots from Namco Bandai's upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z. It was also announced that if you purchase the game day one, you will get a download code for a free Naruto Uzumaki sage costume.

Review: Etrian Odyssey: The Millennium Girl (3DS)

This has been a really good year for the Nintendo 3DS - doubly so if you are a fan of RPG titles. Shin Megami Tensei IV is still fresh in my mind as I had a chance to play another dungeon crawling RPG. In fact, it was not that long ago that the latest entry to Etrian Odyssey: Legends of the Titan was released, but Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl does an excellent job of balancing what gamers loved about the original game, with new mechanics that are hit far more often than miss.

Pulling back the curtain on the next Theatrhythm

Theatrhythm was a surprise hit by Square Enix when it released on the Nintendo 3DS. Not that Final Fantasy or its widely adored music did not have some pull, but the title was seen as 'odd' by quite a few people when it first released. Thankfully, that does appear to have been a detriment to overall sales, because Square Enix is readying a follow-up title: Curtain Call.

What is Deep Down?

One of the titles during E3 that most piqued my interest was the brief peek at Deep Down by Capcom. The game had a D-D name, rather similar to Capcom's Dragon's Dogma, which made me wonder if maybe this would be a related title. Visually, it feels like it has more in common with the Dark Souls series.

A bit more information on Phantasy Star Nova

About a week ago I posted just a small amount of information about Sega and Tri-Force's upcoming Phantasy Star Nova, which is an offline (there is local multiplayer, but it is not an online MMO like recent Phantasy Star titles) adventure set in the Phantasy star Online 2 world, but more story driven.

A dozen new screens from J-Stars Vs.

So far this fighting game looks like it will only be releasing in Japan, but given that it crosses up characters from popular series all over the world, such as Naruto and Goku, I am still holding out some hope that Namco Bandai will give this game a wider release.

Some screenshots of Natural Doctrine

I posted a quick trailer and set of comments about Natural Doctrine last week, and was already very excited about it. Though it is only a handful of screens, they look pretty sharp. Of course, strategy RPG games are among my favourite genre, making it notable for that alone, but that it is also coming out for the PlayStation 4 (as well as the PS3 and Vita), I have to say that I am even more excited by that news.

More familiar faces in Lightning Returns

Most of the characters shown so far for Lightning Returns have been those from the first Final Fantasy XIII, such as Snow (though he was briefly in the follow-up). Here we have a variety of screenshots, but in a few of them Caius and Yeul can be spied from XIII-2.
