A Look Back: Vanguard Bandits PSOne Classic

MonkeyPaw Games has a knack for bringing forgotten gaming gems to our gaming community.  Sometimes they dust off a classic title that I recall from my younger days of gaming, and sometimes they bring us over a title I never heard of, but wish I had before.  One such example of this is Vanguard Bandits, which is available for download as a PSOne Classic via the Sony PlayStation Network.

Two new characters and scans for Atelier Ayesha

Seems like we have a fan or two of the Atelier series, no?  Here's a couple of new scans with a bit more gameplay information about the upcoming release.

More characters and scans from Project X Zone

The combination of Sega, Capcom and Bandai Namco has me pretty excited to see what Project X Zone has to offer to fans when it releases.  Well here are a couple of scans showing off some more characters for the game.

New Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC costumes incoming

I've heard that there were going to be some more costumes incoming from Square Enix and now some scans are making their way around the internet of them.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - some more recent screenshots

Recently Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch got to show off a few new screenshots at a convention.  I have heard mixed things about the game based on previews, where some feel the pace is a bit slow and even potentially boring, while others are in love with the art style and presentation.

Release information for content packs - Ninja Gaiden 3

Team NINJA released content pack 2 a couple of days ago.  They also talked briefly about a couple of other additions coming soon.  There will be a higher level of difficulty added to the game on April 24th called Ultimate Ninja.  There is also an upcoming DLC pack on May 1st that simply claims: players will be well equipped to master both the real world and the shadow world.

My younger two kids are huge Pokemon fans, with my son having Black and my daughter owning White - and both of them are already very excited about this game.

Review: Pandora's Tower (Wii)

Time to make an admission: I was wrong. I’ve been going around various people’s comments and Websites going on about how terrible Pandora’s Tower is. This was based on my experience of the Japanese game. I’ve held off on the review of the game for Otaku Gaming because, like I did with Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story, I wanted to make sure that my imperfect understanding of Japanese was not hindering my experience of the game.

Lost Planet 3 - fact sheet and screens

I have not played much of Lost Planets 1 & 2 - my son enjoys the series though and was pretty excited when I showed him the screenshots and Lost Planet 3 Fact Sheet from Capcom.

Two Namco Bandai release announcements

The first came out a few days ago, but Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition will be arriving for the PC.  It's good to see this game getting a broader audience than its spiritual predecessor, Demon's Souls, which was PlayStation 3 exclusive.  This version will be adding an area to the game 'Artorias of the Abyss'.  The release date is set for August 24th and will include a retooled PVP mode as well.

Another title announced was Tekken Tag Tournament 2 being made available September 2012.  I really am a huge fan of the Tekken series, and with more than 50 characters to choose from and several different modes, this should offer plenty to do for fight fans.  Are you excited for either of these titles?

Here's a set of quotes about Tekken Tag Tournament 2:

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT is one of the most beloved entries in the TEKKEN series – not just among fans but also for myself and the entire development team, so crafting the sequel has been a labour of love for everyone here,” said Katsuhiro Harada, TEKKEN Project Director at NAMCO BANDAI GAMES Inc. “To truly make this game stand up to the high benchmark set by the original, we have injected some exciting features and modes that will revolutionize the online fighting game community and allow new players to enjoy and master the game – so there will be something for everyone.”

The original TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT created the entire tag-based fighting genre when it released in arcades in 1999, and the highly-anticipated sequel will bring unique features to the fighting game community with innovative online functionality that will be revealed in greater detail during E3 in June.

“There is so much packed into TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 that we can’t wait to reveal to fans of both fighting games and fans of all games,” said Carlson Choi, vice president of marketing, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. The latest entry into the iconic series will have the level of depth expected of the highest-selling fighting game franchise of all time, but also the accessibility for new fans and gaming noobs alike.”

Project X Zone - Screenshots and information

With a pedigree that includes Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai, Project X Zone was bound to draw some attention.  What is it?  So far it's been listed as a strategy RPG with a fairly beefy list of characters to be included.

The end of Demon's Souls

I just got this in an email a bit ago - but basically it is a message from Atlus that the Demon's Souls online servers will finally be closed.

Gungrnir box art, screenshots

This strategy RPG title published by Atlus for the PSP has finally shown us some screenshots and the cover for this title.  Going to the website, they have a date of Jun 12.2012 plastered to the front.

Import Review: Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition (DS)

The appeal of Pokémon + Nobunaga's Ambition in the West is the word before the '+'. Nobunaga's Ambition is a franchise that has always been badly underrepresented outside of Japan, because Westerners find Japanese history boring or something. Unfortunately this game does very little for the Nobunaga's Ambition franchise, and is little more than a cheap and childish SRPG.

Review: Ninja Gaiden 3; hey guys, it's not that bad (PS3)

It's been hard not to notice the wave of negative publicity that came with the release of Ninja Gaiden 3. After playing the game the only conclusion I can make is that the problem with Ninja Gaiden 3 is no more than its name. Were this any other franchise, it would sail by fine, if not become lauded for its cinematic hyperviolence.

Screenshots of Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation

I would not be surprised if this never made it's way to North America, but it is set for a June 2012 release in Japan.  This is a free to play mechanized shooter based on Mobile Suit Gundam for the PlayStation 3.  There are optional purchases that you can make through the PlayStation Store.  Here are a bunch of screens.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 has more download announcements

In the wake of the Mass Effect armor costumes for Noel and Serah, some new ones were announced as well.  Serah will get a costume called Exposure & Defense while Noel is once again the beneficiary of a rather oddly themed cross-over, Ezio.

Review: Silent Hill HD Collection (PS3)

Silent Hill HD collection
The early Silent Hill games are terrible games. They just happen to be incredible experiences. The HD remake of Silent Hill 2 and 3 has just reinforced this.
