Trailer: Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition. This game looks incredible

A little before Christmas we heard about what is easily the weirdest crossover game in history. The cute and charming Pokemon crossing virtual blades with the very real historical characters of Feudal Japan found in niche hit series, Nobunaga's Ambition.

And now there's a trailer, which doesn't give us a whole lot on the game, but nonetheless has us really, really excited. This is going to be the best thing to happen to Pokemon since Pokemon.

There's a snippet of gameplay about a minute in to the trailer. It looks more like a tactics RPG than a "true" Nobunaga's Ambition game, which is more about empire building. That said, that part of the game might still be there, after all, wading through menus doesn't make for a compelling trailer.

The visuals are very distinctively Pokemon - cute and cheerful, so that much might put off some Nobunaga's Ambition fans, but the offset - the chance for Tecmo Koei to find a new legion of fans for their massively underrated franchise, is looking more and more like a sure thing.

I can't wait for this game.

Argh, so excited! What are your thoughts as to the possibility of this seeing an English release? I want to say yes because it's Pokemon, but I'm worried maybe it will get shunned away from an English release because they think it's too "Japanese."

I'll bet my house that the game gets a western release. Probably just America, so thank goodness it's a DS, and not a 3DS game, and therefore is not going to be region locked.

My reasons for this are twofold. 1) It's Pokemon. 2) It's Tecmo Koei. Those guys have released plenty of Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms games in English already, and they know this is their best chance in ages to get mass market exposure for the franchise.

Can't wait!
