Atelier Meruru formally announced for the west

Here at Otaku Gaming we love the Atelier series of games. They're utterly charming and funny and most of all they're classic JRPGs with just enough of a twist to them (the alchemy) to keep things interesting.

The great news is Nippon Ichi has formally announced that Atelier Meruru, the third PS3 outing for GUST's series and a direct sequel to Atelier Totori (read our review here) is westward bound.

It's coming in Spring 2012, and the reception back in homeland Japan has been good. While we don't expect it to deviate from the formula too much, there is the promise from the publishers that it features upgraded and new in-game systems, as well as a mix of returning and new characters.

And people say the JRPG is dead. Pfft.
