Digimon Masters, an MMO launches; in English, too!

Digimon's kind of popular. Not as much so as Pokemon, perhaps, but enough so that we reckon there are some very excited fans out there: Digimon Masters is now live!

So, what does the game involve? The developers, Joymax, are promising a "deep" RPG experience, with pretty graphics, and naturally since this is a MMO, real time combat.

It'll be interesting to see if that last feature upsets the Digimon fan base, since previous games in the series were turn based.

There's also apparently 1000 characters present in the game, from seasons 1 through to 5 of the anime.

According to the press release: "The game seamlessly combines pet training simulation with role-playing elements to deliver a one of a kind gaming experience. Featuring real-time combat, Gamers will be thrilled with the challenges brought forth by real-time combat which requires quick thinking and good reflexes. Players can also become one of 8 Royal Knights. Royal Knights are Digimon who are in charge of each area in the Digital World. Leaders of a guild that conquers one of these areas can become a Royal Knight who has the right to impose taxes along with other perks and obligations."

Sounds good, though the Pokemon MMO can't come soon enough.
